The term subcentral operculum (OPRsc) refers to the junction of precentral gyrus (PRG) and postcentral gyrus (POG) that overlies the insula (INS) in the human ( Ture-1999 ) and the macaque ( Mesuiam-1985 ). Identified by dissection, its boundary with the INS is the superior limiting sulcus (lmss). It is not found in the smooth cerebral cortex (ctx) of the rat and mouse.
