crus cerebri

The term crus cerebri (ccr) refers to a predominantly white matter part of the midbrain (MBR). The other components are the substantia nigra (SNR) and the midbrain tegmentum (MBRtg). It is found in the human ( Crosby-1962 ), macaque ( Oertel-1969 ), rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and mouse ( Paxinos-2001 ). In the functional model, it is the part of the corticospinal tract (cst), which passes through the midbrain Updated 30 Apr 2025.
