The term supratrigeminal nucleus refers to a group of cells located dorsal to the motor nucleus of the trigeminal nerve in the human ( Paxinos-2012 ), the macaque ( Paxinos-2009a ), the rat ( Swanson-2004 ), and the mouse ( Paxinos-2001 ). Functionally it belongs to the reticular formation (functional) of the subcortical motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
